Nygma Cookie Policy

1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy (“Policy”) explains how Genie9 LTD (“Genie9”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the Nygma website and web app at nygma.genie9.com, including share-link pages (the “Site”).
Read it together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. The Nygma mobile apps do not use browser cookies; see section 6.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They let the website remember things, such as the fact that you are signed in.
2.1 Technologies We Use
- Cookies: small files stored by your browser and sent back to the website
- Local storage: browser storage that stays until it is cleared
- Session storage: browser storage that is cleared when you close the tab
In this Policy, “cookies” covers all three.
3. How We Use Cookies
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies make the Site work. They do not need your consent, and the Site cannot work properly without them.
- • Keeping you signed in
- • Keeping a drive open while you use it, after you unlock it
- • Protecting you against cross-site request forgery and other attacks
3.2 Analytics Cookies
We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics, which tells us how people use the Site — for example which pages are visited and where errors happen. Google Analytics never sees your files, file names or chats, which are encrypted on your device.
Consent:
- • We use Google Consent Mode. If your device’s time zone or language shows you are in the UK or elsewhere in Europe, analytics cookies stay off unless you agree to them.
- • Elsewhere, analytics cookies are on by default. You can turn them off by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser (section 5).
- • Because this check uses your device settings, it may not always match where you are. You can block cookies in your browser at any time.
3.3 Advertising Cookies
- • We do not show ads in Nygma and we do not sell your data.
- • Inside the signed-in web app and on share-link pages, advertising signals are switched off: Google advertising cookies are not used there.
- • On our other web pages, Google tags may use advertising cookies to measure our own advertising (for example, whether someone who saw our ad later signed up). The same consent rules as for analytics apply.
Note: If you are in the UK or elsewhere in Europe (as detected above), advertising cookies stay off unless you agree to them.
3.4 Preference Cookies
These remember choices you make, such as which app design you prefer, viewer and slideshow settings, and tips you have dismissed. Most are kept only in your browser’s local storage and are not sent to us.

The main cookies we use are listed below. Names and durations can change as the Site changes; the purposes stay the same.

4.4 Advertising
Google advertising cookies, only on web pages outside the signed-in app and share-link pages (section 3.3). Google decides their names and durations; see Google’s own cookie information.
5. Managing Cookies
5.1 Your Choices
- • Where the law requires consent, analytics and advertising cookies are not used unless you agree (section 3.2).
- • You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the cookies for nygma.genie9.com in your browser or blocking them.
- • Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5.2 Browser Controls
Most browsers let you:
- • See and delete cookies and site data
- • Block all cookies, or only third-party cookies
- • Set rules for each website
Note: If you block strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in or open your drives on the web.
6. Mobile Apps
The Nygma Android and iOS apps do not use browser cookies. They use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) for app usage statistics and crash reports, and you can switch both off in the app’s settings. See our Privacy Policy.
7. Third Parties
- • Google (Tag Manager, Analytics and advertising tags) sets the cookies described in sections 3.2 and 3.3.
- • Stripe: when you pay on the website, you are taken to Stripe’s checkout, where Stripe may use its own cookies for payment and fraud prevention under its own policy.
- • Google and Apple sign-in: if you sign in with Google or Apple, their sign-in pages use their own cookies under their own policies.
8. International Transfers
Our servers are in the United States, and Google processes cookie data in the United States and other countries. The safeguards we rely on are described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Children
Nygma is for people aged 16 and over. The Site is not directed to children under 16.
10. Encryption and Cookies
10.1 What Cookies Never Contain
Our cookies never contain:
- • Your drive passwords or recovery phrases
- • Your encryption keys
- • The contents or names of your files
10.2 How We Protect Cookies
- • Our cookies are sent only over HTTPS (the Secure flag)
- • Sign-in and drive-session cookies cannot be read by page scripts (the HttpOnly flag)
- • SameSite settings limit when cookies are sent from other websites
11. Legal Basis
- Strictly necessary cookies: allowed without consent under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the EU ePrivacy rules; we process the related data to provide the Service you asked for and in our legitimate interest in keeping it secure
- Analytics and advertising cookies: your consent, where the law requires it
- Preference cookies: set because you made a choice and asked us to remember it
12. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data, including cookie data — for example to access it, delete it, or withdraw consent. Our Privacy Policy and Regional Compliance Notices explain these rights and how to use them.
13. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Policy at any time, for example when we add or remove cookies. We will post the new version on this page with a new date and, where the law requires, ask for your consent again.
