Deleting a job

Deleting a job removes the job and its run reports. It never removes the backups the job made.

On this page

A job and its backups are two different things. The job is a small file on this PC that says what to do; the backups are the sets on the destination. Deleting the job deletes the job, not the backups.

Delete a job#

  1. Stop the job first if it is running: a running job cannot be deleted.
  2. On the Jobs page, open the job's ⋯ menu and choose Delete job…. (Or tick several rows and click Delete in the bar.)
  3. Read the dialog: The job and its schedule are removed. Backup files on the destination are not deleted, and you can still restore from them.
  4. Click Delete job.

After deleting, the app confirms it: Backup files were left on the destination. To remove them, see below.

What goes with the job#

  • The job and its schedule.
  • Its run reports and their logs. They leave Activity too, so export a report's log first (Export log on the report) if you want to keep it.

What stays#

Every set the job wrote stays on the destination, is still listed in Find, and can still be restored from Restore, where the job's name stays in Backups by job for as long as its sets are there. Retention no longer runs for them, so they stay until you remove them.

Turn a job off instead#

If you might want the job back, switch it off with its On switch. That stops the schedule and keeps everything, reports included.

If you want the backup files gone#

  1. Before deleting the job, open its ⋯ menu and choose Show destination in Explorer. (Or open the destination folder yourself.)
  2. Delete the job's folder, for example H:\Backups\Documents & Desktop, in File Explorer.

Caution

Deleting set folders is permanent and outside GBM AI. There is no undo.

Find then marks those sets Removed. They show only when you pick Removed sets in its filter, and are forgotten after 30 days, or at once with Forget this set.
