A desktop shortcut that runs a job

One double-click starts a backup, opening GBM AI first if it is not running.

For a job you run by hand, such as the "before I go home" backup or the "I've just added the photos" backup, a shortcut on the desktop is quicker than opening the app.

Create one#

  • When you create the job: on the wizard's first step, tick Create a desktop shortcut that runs this job.
  • For any job: on the Jobs page, open the job's ⋯ menu and choose Create desktop shortcut.

A shortcut named after the job appears on your desktop, and a message says Shortcut created on your desktop.

What it does#

Double-click it and the job starts, and GBM AI opens on that run's page. If GBM AI is not running, it starts first. The report records Started by a desktop shortcut. If another backup is running, this one queues behind it.

The shortcut does not ask the first-run question: double-clicking it is the go-ahead.

Removing it#

Delete the shortcut like any other file; the job is not affected. If you delete the job first, the shortcut opens GBM AI and says That job no longer exists.
