Copy diagnostics#

Copy diagnostics, at the bottom, puts a short text on the clipboard for a support ticket. It holds the app and agent versions, the platform, the Windows build, this PC's device ID, the agent's mode and state, whether it is elevated, what started it, your edition, the licence source and trial dates, the server, the install folder and the data folder, and the time.

The data folder's path contains your Windows user name, as in D:\Users\Alex\AppData\Roaming\GBM AI. Read the text before you paste it anywhere.

Check for updates#

GBM AI checks by itself two minutes after the background agent starts, and every 24 hours after that. Check for updates checks now. What you can see:

Skip this version means that version is not offered again. A security update says This update fixes a security issue and cannot be skipped, and has only the install button.

A download that fails its checksum or signature is deleted and never installed (E-UPD-003).

When a verified update is waiting, Settings shows a dot, About shows Install 10.0.57 (downloaded), and the notification-area icon's menu has Update to 10.0.57….

Settings ▸ Advanced ▸ Automatic updates decides how much happens without you:

  • Check only: the dialog appears; nothing is downloaded until you press Download and install.
  • Download and ask (default): the update is downloaded and verified first, then the dialog asks.
  • Download and install automatically: the update is downloaded and installed when no backup is running.

Installing#

Install now closes the app for a few seconds, replaces the app, the background agent and the service together, and reopens the app. Your jobs and backups are untouched. It is refused while a backup is running (E-RUN-002); install when it has finished.

Rolling back#

If the version before this one was also installed from the app, Roll back to 10.0.55 appears under Check for updates. It reinstalls that version from its installer, which is kept in the updates folder. After a version installed by hand from genie9.com there is nothing to roll back to; install the older version's setup from its release page on genie9.com instead.
