Updates and the support window
You keep every version released during your year of updates, for ever. What changes when it ends, what never changes, and renewing.
A GBM AI licence is perpetual. What has a date is updates and support: one year with every purchase, two if you chose that at checkout. The rule: you keep every version released before that date, for ever.
Where you see the date#
On Account (click your email at the bottom left, then Account & licences), the Updates & support line reads, for example, until 14 Mar 2027 · 176 days left, with You keep every version released before then, for ever. and a Renew updates button. Editions & store shows the same line.
While the year runs#
- Every new version. The app downloads it and asks before installing; Settings ▸ Advanced ▸ Automatic updates decides how much happens on its own. See About, and updates.
- Email support.
- Ask Genie at your edition's allowance.
When it ends#
Nothing stops. Backups, restores and every feature of your edition keep working, on the versions you have, for ever. Three things change:
| What | After the date |
|---|---|
| Versions released after the date | need another year. When one comes out, the app says Version 10.0.57 needs a renewal and names the newest version your licence covers. |
| Email support | ends |
| Ask Genie | drops to the Free allowance of 10 prompts a month, with a banner on the Ask Genie page saying why |
A version your licence covers can still be installed from its release page, GBM AI releases.
Reminders#
Genie9 emails the address the licence was bought with 30 days before the date, 7 days before, and on the day.
Renewing#
- On Account or Editions & store, click Renew updates.
- The Genie9 store opens in your browser. Pay, and come back.
The app picks up the new date by itself. A year bought before the date runs on from that date; a year bought after it runs from the day you buy. Another year of updates is optional; the app tells you the price before you renew.
