What’s new
What changed, and when.
Shipped changes only — if it is on this page it is live in the product today.
One change, on the first screen a visitor sees.
The chat opens with four questions you control
The panel already opened with questions generated from your content; now they are yours to run. A Conversation starters tab under Smart Features: a focus line for what the assistant should lead with, an editable list of up to twelve (pin, hide, reorder, add, regenerate), suggestions from what visitors asked in the last 30 days, and rotation so every topic gets seen.
Smart features
The week the dashboard became a team’s — shared inbox, roles, live human replies and alerts.
Roles now do what the Team page says they do
A member reads, replies to and closes conversations, looks up visitors and reads analytics. An admin also runs widget settings, appearance, smart features, the knowledge base, installation and the team. Billing and deletion stay with the owner. Each role sees only the pages it can use, and every request is checked server-side against the same table.
The team inboxA human reply reaches the visitor at once — and looks like a person
Reply from the dashboard and the message appears in the visitor’s chat within seconds, captioned with your avatar, display name and team label. Their next message reaches your screen the same way, attachments included. The assistant pauses until you hand the conversation back.
How takeover worksThe inbox list updates itself
New conversations appear at the top, previews and counts change, and the summary cards follow — for everyone who has the list open, without a reload.
Give the assistant a name and your logo
In Settings → General, give the assistant a name for the widget header and an avatar for its replies: one of five illustrated non-human styles, or your own logo or mascot. It is always labelled as an AI assistant, whatever the picture.
How to set it upTeammates have a display name and an avatar
Everyone sets their own on Account → Profile: a name and a photo, or one of six illustrated styles. Owners and admins can set a member’s from the Team page. Whether names and avatars are shown to visitors, and what the team is called, is a site setting.
Ask a visitor for their email from inside the conversation
The Request email button now reaches the widget your visitors actually use: the email form appears in their chat. It is disabled once the visitor has given an address.
Notifications send: alerts, a daily summary, and webhooks
An email when a visitor starts a real conversation; a daily summary of the day before, per site, in your timezone; and on Business and Enterprise, signed webhooks for four events with a test button and a rotatable signing secret.
How to turn them onThe widget speaks twelve languages
English, Arabic, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese — the same twelve as the dashboard, followed from the visitor’s browser when you leave the language on auto. Arabic keeps its mirrored layout, and the Send button is translated too.
The chat widgetA typeface picker for the widget
Six system font stacks to choose from on the appearance screen, so the widget can match a site without loading a webfont into your visitors’ browsers.
CustomizationUpload limits match what your plan says
The per-file size limit is now read from your plan and enforced as shown, and the uploader tells you the real figure before you pick a file. The plan tables inside the product were unified so the upgrade page, the seed and the live plans agree.
Limits per planInvitations behave
A pending invitation holds its seat everywhere seats are counted. Someone who already had a Genie AI account lands in the team that invited them.
Dashboard translations completed
Screens that had never been wired to the translation files now are, in all twelve dashboard languages, and three bugs found by translating were fixed along the way.
This log starts on 2 September 2026. Prices, quotas and limits live on the pricing page and are corrected there.
