Regions go down
Single AWS region outages happen (us-east-1: 2017, 2020, 2021). When one region is dark, your backups are still readable from another.
Data residency
GDPR data residency requires EU data to stay in the EU. Pin replication to region pairs that keep regulated data in-region.
Cross-region verification
Cross-region verification catches replication issues that a single-region setup never can — by reading from a different region than you wrote to.
How It Works
Primary + secondary + failover + verify.
Chunks are written close to the source, replicated automatically, and continuously checked across regions.
Primary region
Where chunks are first written — the region closest to your source.
Secondary region(s)
Replicated automatically per policy, with no per-GB egress charge.
Failover
The dashboard reads from the secondary region if the primary is unavailable.
Verification
A cross-region read on every backup verifies that replication actually worked.

Continental Region ships with sensible default pairings so regulated data stays where it belongs. Enterprise can request custom pairing — for example, when data must stay in the EU, EU-west pairs with EU-central.
